Gmail Users Can Send Up To 10GB

Today Google announced that Gmail users can attach and send up to 10GB of files hosted on Google Drive directly from the Gmail client. It is 400 times larger than a traditional attachment.

The mechanics of email attachments was not actually changed. Gmail client saves the file in the user's Google Drive storage space. So when the user sends the attached file, he or she ends up sending a pointer to where the file resides in Google's cloud, a URL. Message recipients can then access the file, using the emailed URL to download it from Google Drive or simply to view it in a browser.

This feature will only be available in the new compose page.

Facebook May Create Classified Ads

It is said that Facebook is considering a new classified ad service for jobs, apartments and item sales. This service will differ from Facebook Marketplace. Creating new classifieds listings could put Facebook in direct competition with Craigslist.

User’s advertisements will be shown up in friends' news feeds but would only target users who meet specific criteria (e.g., those who live in Jacksonville where there's a house for sale). Users could also add photos and links to these ads. The same sorts of things offer Craigslist.

The new classified ad service could drive user interaction and page loads, and might even lead people to share more information about themselves in order to improve the quality of ads that reach them.

EBay Updates Website to Be More Personal

eBay, the biggest classified portal, which now has 350 million product listing, has redesigned its home and product pages, search functionality and payments. The idea is to make the eBay experience more personalized for consumers.

The biggest change is a news feed driven home page that displays big product pictures that are selected for a user based on their interests and past shopping behavior. Users can edit their interests for the news feed and look for particular products, which will be reflected in their home page.

The product pages now feature bigger product images, less clutter and more information up top. Users can easily link their PayPal account to their eBay account to enable one-click purchases, instead of the four-step check-out process in place now. EBay’s search experience has also been updated to provide better relevancy and more rankings and more consistent navigation from page to page.

Hiding Credit System, Now Free!

WorksForWeb Customization Department has developed a custom patch to be applied towards the default version of all our classifieds software products, which “hides” the credit system on your website. Once this patch is applied, the system of credits is no longer visible on your website.

Your users will have to make separate payments for listing activation, and for every paid feature of your website directly through one of the available payment gateways. Auto-extension of subscription and listings(automatic renewals) will not work once the patch is applied. Find out more about the patch.

If you have any questions, please contact our Sales Department for more information.
